Week 1 – Concept board, 400 word proposal & Barbican brief

This was the first class after the break. I was not fully prepared because I didn’t finish all my SDS work but Suzanne helped us all throughout the session. First we were asked to create a concept board using the images we shot in the SDS and make kind of a mood board explaining the theme of our zine. Then we were supposed to write a 400 word proposal. We were also supposed to upload our audience board to the padlet.

I started off making a concept board keeping the whole idea in my mind. I tried to explain the feeling of the zine as much as I could but the concept was pretty fresh and it was still developing in my head. The first mood board I created was more like an inspiration board for me, sort of like the theme I followed and I added this idea of glitz and glamour with my idea of self expression – wild and free. The mood board came out pretty cool. I liked the colours and the ideas it was representing.

My audience board is very self explanatory I feel. I want my audience to be from the fashion industry, like the 90’s supermodels, the designers, the stylists, the photographers who are inspired by the zine and also are included in the zine (their work included in the zine). Then there was peer review, where we were supposed to show each other our works and get feedback. This was a very fun and chill session and gave me an idea of how to go about things and also downloading the project planner was helpful with organisation tasks.

2nd Concept board

Then we were briefed about the Barbican trip. We were supposed to explore the place and click photographs and plan a launch event there. I really liked the Barbican and got a few ideas about shoots, videos and PR related ideas.
